Equus asinus Kadzidlowo 002
Donkey milk or donkey milk is milk derived from domestic donkeys (Equus asinus). This milk was already in nutritional and cosmetic use since the years of Egyptian antiquity. According to the U.S.D.A. donkey’s milk was not considered safe for consumption until 2001, and its use was not indicated for the average American society. Its dairy production is done on donkey farms with a capacity of up to six hundred animals, while the milk production potential is between 0.2 and 0.3 liters per mare. The composition of donkey milk, as well as of colostrum, is very similar to mother’s milk, with very similar proportions and especially in terms of the low amount of lipids and the high percentages of lactose
